| We’ve been building Martina’s racquets for nearly 30 years! The first racquets we customized for her were made of wood...the Bancroft Player’s Special. In the years since, we've spent hours on the court with Martina in order to adjust racquets from many manufacturers, including Yonex, Dunlop and Prince. With every on court session we've come up with new ideas, adjustments and changes that have helped Martina get the most out of her talents and abilities. These on court sessions have been invaluable in learning the effects of subtle specification changes. | Martina's Bosworth 2004 Tour 96M was custom-built to give her a solid feeling racquet, good ball control, and to protect her arm and shoulder joints against injury. Her handle is a special shape, and is in fact asymmetrical, which is quite unusual. With on court testing, we were able to discover slight variations in her technique that would result from small changes in handle specs. Using this information, we came up with a shape that was solid and comfortable on her backhand, works great for her backhand slice, and most importantly, increased the amount of spin she generates on her forehand. Top players are constantly looking for an edge, and on court testing is one of the most overlooked parts of player development. | |
